It can provide seamless Wireless Internet wherever you go; that too at true broadband speeds.
Ever since the launch of the iPhone, people have been totally gaga over it. Love it or hate it, the iPhone does bring some unique tricks to the table. But the lack of basic features (like SMS forwarding and video recording) tend to be overshadowed by the sleek interface and the fact that the phone at the end of the day, is a darn good media player too.

Now, other players in the market are taking notice and coming up with phones that try to do everything the iPhone can; and a lot more. Which brings us to today's gadget in-focus - the HTC MAX 4G. It is touted as the world's first WiMAX phone. For the uninformed, let's start with the basics. We all know what Wi-Fi is.
It is the wireless internet that we get at our Baristas and McDonalds. But the range of Wi-Fi is limited. Many also might be aware that the internet available on cell-phones today isn't exactly blazingly fast.
Here's where WiMAX cuts the cake...and eats it too! It can provide you with seamless Wireless Internet wherever you go - that too at true broadband speeds. The kind of speeds where you don't have to clear the trash or fold your laundry before a YouTube video gets completely loaded!
Coming back to the device, the HTC MAX 4G is pretty cool in terms of looks. The black dressing makes it look elegant. It's just a wee-bit larger than the iPhone. But in return, you get a screen that is is larger and crisper - perfect to watch that last episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' in high-def while travelling.
It's got 8 GB of built-in memory, plus a memory card slot for adding more memory later (the iPhone doesn't have this). The interface is based on Windows Mobile but is heavily modified to be easily used with fingers. And it also looks really gorgeous too!
Also onboard is a 5 mega-pixel camera (as compared to the iPhone's 2 mega-pixel) - which will give you good quality snaps. There's also a GPS chip on-board that'll let help you explore unknown places. To top it all, a high-power battery will give enough juice to run the phone's heavy-duty features.
The phone's pricing is currently not known - but it'll be safe to assume that it will be comparable to the iPhone's pricing (30 grand rupees). Also, WiMAX isn't fully operational in India yet, but there is news that it will be functional in metros soon. Till then, all we can do is drool and day-dream over it.
